Red Zebra Broadcasting, which owns and operates WTEM/ESPN 980 “The Home of The Redskins,” in partnership with AudioNow Digital, today launched a mobile app that will allow fans play-by-play game coverage, and live and on-demand sports talk shows, from the city’s top sports broadcaster.

As the 2015 NFL regular season gets underway September 10th, and as the Redskins emerge from pre-season with solid wins and a new designation of Kirk Cousins as the team’s quarterback, the app will allow D.C. sports fans the chance to get closer to breaking sports news as it happens.

ESPN 980 is available on Apple and Android platforms, and features every Redskins game live, in addition to favorite daily programs from Tony Kornheiser, Chris Cooley, Kevin Sheehan, Brian Mitchell, Steve Czaban and more. Fans who missed the live program can go back and listen to their favorite on-demand shows and hear breaking interviews with top guests, with the option to download these podcasts over Wi-Fi where available.

The app‘s additional features include: “Radio Reporter,” enabling fans to send in photos, text, and audio on game day; listener -controlled bandwidth management; social share functionality among listeners; and push notifications from the station.

“The ESPN 980 App is another excellent way for us to connect with our audience,” says Dan Zampillo, Director of Programming. “We are thrilled to have this partnership with Audio Now, which allows us to bring listeners closer to the best sports radio in DC.”

“Washington’s sports fans are among the most passionate, informed, and vocal, in the country,” says Rebecca Walker, Director of Digital Partnerships at AudioNow. “This app enables them to stay in much closer touch with their favorite station, giving opinions, and receiving updates, when they’re away from traditional radio or even outside of D.C.”
