D.C. United and AudioNow Debut Mobile Listening with Spanish-language Broadcast
For First Time, Call-to-Listen available in Spanish for Local fans
WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 13, 2013) – In a first for soccer fans, D.C. United and AudioNow, the world’s leading call-to-listen platform, have announced a new way for listeners to connect to live games in Spanish. Through a simple mobile telephone call, fans can now access live D.C. United broadcasts on their phone and be connected to the local Spanish-language radio call.
This weekend, and for the rest of this season, United fans can dial (712) 432-7878 and listen to live broadcasts. The service officially launches Saturday, September 14, when D.C.United hosts the LA Galaxy at RFK Stadium. Airtime for the broadcast begins with kick-off at 4:00 p.m. (ET).
“Soccer is serious business in Washington, D.C.” said Alexandra Moe, Director of Partnerships at AudioNow. “But not all fans can make it to the game, and want to listen by phone, from wherever they are. Now, those in the DC region can hear the Spanish-language broadcast from any phone.”
The call-to-listen phone number incurs no extra charge and is the equivalent of making a standard mobile call. As data costs continue to rise on mobile devices and unlimited voice plans continue to proliferate, radio-by-phone is emerging as one of the most affordable ways in the United States for listeners to connect to their favorite broadcasters when they are away from the radio, television and Internet.
“We continue to explore ways through which we can deliver live game coverage to fans in manners that are most convenient to them,” said Doug Hicks, D.C. United Chief Marketing Officer. “AudioNow presents a quality product and the opportunity to build a promising partnership.”
