AudioNow Profiles SN Radio’s CEO

Recently, Jen Friesen, AudioNow’s Head of Public Affairs, visited with Andrej Tijani, Jr. Founder & CEO, Salone Network Worldwide, LLC to discuss their network’s decision to launch on AudioNow.  Below are excerpts from their brief interview.

Q. Tell us about SN Radio. How long has SN Radio operated?

A. SN Radio, a subsidiary of Salone Network (www.SaloneNetwork.com), was launched in April 2010.  SaloneNetwork.com is an online community designed for Sierra Leoneans to have access to entertainment and communication tools to keep in touch with family and friends.  We are excited as well because SN Radio has recently secured a 5 years broadcasting license with Voice of America (VOA), an international multimedia broadcasting service funded by the U.S. government through the Broadcasting Board of Governors.

Q. Who is your typical listener?

A. The majority of our listeners are from Sierra Leone but we also have other African nationals and listeners who are interested in African music in general.

Q. What appeals to you about AudioNow as a means to expand your mobile distribution?

A.SN Radio has always embraced innovative technology to expand its global reach.  Our decision to launch SN Radio on AudioNow serves two purposes:

(1) To make SN Radio portable since mobile phone penetration in Africa has surpassed all other communication mediums on the continent and elsewhere.

(2) To offer our business partners a reliable platform to extend their brand globally.  We believe AudioNow has the right platform to help SN Radio expand beyond the traditional boundaries of radio broadcasting and we look forward to our partnership for the long-term.

Q. How will your partnership with AudioNow help you to grow?

A. With the launch of SN Radio on AudioNow, we expect more listeners to access our live broadcast now that it’s readily available simply by calling 712-432-6642 from mobile and landline phones worldwide.  In addition, our number of listeners can easily grow exponentially if AudioNow expands into international markets and begins offering local numbers in Africa since mobile phones usage has surpassed all other forms of communication.

AudioNowTM is the leading provider of mobile phone broadcast radio distribution in the country. It uses proprietary, patent-pending technology that allows any fixed or mobile phone to access live audio programming without any downloads across all mobile platforms.
