Digicel – Largest Mobile Operator in the Caribbean – and AudioNow® Announce Partnership for first Call-to-Listen™ Numbers Inside Haiti
February 10, 2016 – Washington, D.C. – AudioNow®, the world’s largest call-to-listen platform, and Digicel announced another first for residents of Haiti today with the availability of phone numbers in Haiti that connect to the live content of the country’s leading radio and television stations. The partnership is the result of a long term commitment by both companies to allow audiences inside Haiti to listen to broadcasters over the phone at low cost.
The service provides expanded distribution for Haitian radio stations, who can now reach audiences in rural areas who lacked access to terrestrial radio signals. Listeners who were previously “beyond the reach of radio” are now within reach, via the telephone. The service is offered at 1 HTG per minute to listeners, through the agreement with Digicel.
A sample of phone numbers inside Haiti are as follows:
Radio Television Caraibes: 6650 / +509 2815 6650
Radio Kiskeya: 6630 / +509 2815 6630
Signal FM: 6601 / +509 2815 6601
Radio Metropole: 6607 / +509 2815 6607
“The service is the result of years of working with and for our Haitian broadcast partners. It was essential for us to find a telecom partner that could meet the mobile needs of Haitians for information at an affordable price,” said George Cernat, Chief Marketing Officer of AudioNow. “AudioNow was first to connect Haitian diaspora to news inside Haiti through our call-to-listen platform beginning with the earthquake of 2010 and this is another first. It’s now time for those living in Haiti to benefit from the same level of information that is currently available to Haitians abroad.”
“There’s no better time to provide this service than right now, when updates on the elections are being followed closely by Haitian audiences daily, and will be over the next several months,” added Guilherme Annunciacao, Senior Manager of Strategy and Development at AudioNow.
