Christian Satellite Network Now Available on any U.S. Phone

June 14, 2013: In a first for Christian radio listeners, AudioNow and the Christian Satellite Network announced today a mobile partnership enabling CSN’s radio programs to be heard on any phone in the U.S. By dialing 712.432.6878, audiences will be directly connected to CSN International’s live radio stream.

CSN International, one of the largest religious broadcasters in the U.S., owns and operates over 400 stations across the U.S, with programming including: Solid Bible Teaching, Modern Praise and Worship, call-in shows, and live church services. The Christian Satellite Network (CSN), a non-profit Christian radio ministry, was founded in 1995 in Idaho now airs in Alabama, California, South Carolina, and over forty other states.

AudioNow is the largest call-to-listen tech platform in North America, connecting global broadcasters such as BBC and RFI, as well as religious-based programs around the world, to mobile phones in the U.S. The phone number incurs no extra charges and is the equivalent of making a mobile call, without the requirement of internet or smart-phones. As data costs continue to rise on mobile devices and “unlimited voice plans” plummet, radio-by-voice stream is emerging as one of the most affordable pathways in the United States for listeners to use when they’re away from their favorite station.

“We’ve found a great desire for religious programs, in particular, at a time when more and more people want quality radio programming on-the-go,” said Rebecca Walker, AudioNow’s Manager of Listener Engagement. “Now, with CSN International, our goal is to provide universal mobile coverage –in essence, for anyone to hear their favorite shows from any phone, when away from the computer, or out of range from terrestrial coverage. Pairing engaging content with powerful technology is what we strive to do.”

CSN International features twenty hours of daily content Monday-Friday, with additional programming on weekends. An in-house production, To Every Man An Answer, is a live question-and-answer program led by Pastor Steve Matheson. Beginning at 6:05 pm ET, listeners across the country call in to have their questions about Christianity and the Bible answered.

Other popular programs include River Christian Fellowship with Pastor Bryan Bacon or Bryan Slusher for their Sunday Morning Sermons at 12:00pm EST. And Pastor Skip Heitzig’s program from Calvary Chapel of Albuquerque, broadcast live on Saturdays at 9:00PM EST.

“CSN is delighted at the opportunity of partnering with Audio Now,” said President of the Christian Satellite Network, Pastor Mike Kestler. “It provides enlarged audience access to God’s Word.”

Washington Chinese Radio and Chinese American Voice Go Mobile on AudioNow

Washington, D.C., June 11, 2013 — With long-established communities in California, New York, and more recently, Washington DC, Chinese-Americans total nearly four million in the United States, yet often lacked in-language radio. Washington Chinese Radio and Chinese American Voice were born to engage and educate this thriving diaspora. Now, to keep pace with the shift to mobile radio, they have joined AudioNow, the leading call-to-listen mobile platform through which listeners simply dial a phone number to listen to their favorite shows. To access Washington Chinese Radio, listeners can dial 712.432.6853; and Chinese American Voice, 213.992.4380; from anywhere in the U.S.

The phone number incurs no extra charges and is the equivalent of making a mobile call. As data costs continue to rise on mobile devices and “unlimited voice plans” plummet, radio-by-voice stream is emerging as one of the most affordable pathways in the United States for listeners to use when they’re away from internet or terrestrial radio.

Jay Song founded Washington Chinese Radio (WCR) to serve the 100,000+ Chinese residents in the DC region who did not have access to local in-language radio stations . Song informs the Chinese diaspora in Virginia, Maryland, and D.C. in particular, about regional and national politics by translating mainstream news into their own language. “Translating proposed bills and other laws into Mandarin allows the local Chinese to be more involved in the decision making process, to create more interface with local governments,” he said. WCR also provides news updates, interviews and Mandarin- language music. AudioNow is proud to enable access to Washington Chinese Radio through any mobile device by dialing 712.432.6853.

A resident of New York’s Chinatown since 1986, Richard Hsueh, founder of Chinese American Voice, has witnessed immigration patterns transform the language of his neighborhood. He was inspired to launch CAV, the first Mandarin-language station in NY, when most media outlets were serving primarily Cantonese and Taishanese speakers. Through the years, Hsueh has pioneered new initiatives to serve the changing population, like featuring Fujianese -language programs for newly arrived diaspora from Fuzhou. “Fu Chinese do not have a lot of ways to access programs in their own dialects from back home. Our radio station is a window into their local communities in China,” says Hsueh. CAV also offers nightly programs to teach basic English sentences. Those programs are also available on AudioNow by dialing: 213.992.4380.

AudioNow helps over 1,000 broadcasters, from the world’s largest, such as BBC, VOA and RFI, as well as smaller stations in over 50 languages, reach new listeners through their cell phones. Despite the rising popularity of smartphones, just about half of all U.S. residents use feature phones, which do not have internet capabilities. As such, broadcasters such as Washington Chinese Radio and Chinese American Voice use AudioNow to reach their audience on-the-go, no matter what phone they have, and no matter where in the U.S. they live and work.

New AudioNow Survey Provides Direct Line into Audience Research

New “AudioNow Insights” Survey Feature Brings Broadcasters Closer to their Audience

Survey shows respondents extremely engaged in national elections

Washington, D.C. – April 2, 2013 – AudioNow, the leading call-to-listen mobile phone platform in the United States, released today a multilingual survey that gauged issues of top concern among ethnic communities, including gun control. Five participating broadcasters – Radio America 1540 AM; La Que Buena 1640 AM (in Spanish); Radio Kiskeya (in Creole); Punjabi Radio USA (Punjabi); and Radio Chardi Kala — offered a unique window into the opinions of in-language audiences, with callers participating from across the U.S.

The survey launches the company’s AudioNow® Insights TM feature, a unique tool that enables audience research among participating broadcasters on the AudioNow platform. With exceptionally high audience response rates and cost efficiencies unavailable through traditional outbound polling, the service offers a window into opinions among the hardest to reach communities in the U.S.

Key findings of the survey included:

• Among Spanish speakers, 52% of eligible voters report immigration as the number one issue in their community, compared to 71% of respondents ineligible to vote in the 2012 elections – a 19 point gap.   Across communities interviewed, listeners report immigration as the top issue facing their community.

• At least 7 out of 10 listeners within each community say that they favor stricter gun control laws in the United States.  Of respondents who report keeping a gun or firearm in their home, 82% say that they support stricter gun control laws in this country.   More telling, support is not lost among gun owners when they hear about specific proposals.

• Of 1,138 interviews conducted among adults who were eligible to vote in 2012, a full 71% of respondents report actually voting – approximately 10% higher than the national average in recent presidential elections.

For the entire survey results, please click here

From February 14-21st, the survey was conducted among 2,040 news attentive listeners, from five broadcasting stations.  Included in the sample are 619 interviews among Spanish speaking listeners; 405 interviews among Creole speaking listeners, and 1,016 interviews among listeners in the Punjabi community.  AudioNow retained the services of Hart Research Associates in Washington to produce the survey.

As All Eyes (and Ears) Turn to Kenya, Leading Live Coverage Now Available on Any Mobile Phone

February 27, 2013, Washington, D.C. — As Kenya prepares for one of the most important elections in its history – and one watched closely across the globe — AudioNow announced today a dozen radio stations in Kenya, the U.S. and England where U.S. audiences can receive live coverage of the March 4th presidential elections, by phone.

AudioNow, the nation’s leading radio-by-phone platform, has partnered with leading broadcasters such as BBC Swahili, Capital FM, and Jambo Boston Radio to bring breaking news and pre-election updates and analysis directly to the Kenyan diaspora in both Swahili and English.

The election is the first under Kenya’s new 2010 constitution, and the first after Kenya’s 2007 disputed election that was marked by widespread violence.

BBC World Service leads a week of special programming with “Kenya Decides,” featuring issues of top concern to Kenyans on the eve of the election –such as the crisis of youth unemployment — from reporters in key centers in the country, Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru, Eldoret, Nyeri and Garissa.  Reporting will be in English, Kiswahili, Kinyarwanda/Kirundi, Somali and French.  For coverage, in English, dial 712.432.6580.

Motor Racing Network, AudioNow Launch Mobile Listening for 2013 Season

WASHINGTON, D.C. (January 24, 2013) – In a first for motor sports fans around the country, Motor Racing Network and AudioNow have jointly announced a new way to access live race broadcasts simply by dialing a number from any mobile device.

Across the United States, race fans can dial 1-832-999-1717 and listen to MRN race-day broadcasts, interviews and analysis, and weekly programming such as “NASCAR Live” and “NASCAR USA.” This service will begin Saturday, Jan. 26, with the season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series race. Air time on the Motor Racing Network will be 3 p.m. (ET).

Upcoming broadcasts will include “Acceleration Weekend” at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, N.C., from Feb. 8-10 and the season-opening Daytona 500 for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series on Sunday, Feb. 24.

The phone number incurs no extra charges and is the equivalent of making a mobile call. As data costs continue to rise on mobile devices and “unlimited voice plans” plummet, radio-by-voice stream is emerging as one of the most affordable pathways in the United States for listeners to use when they’re away from their favorite station.

“Now, race fans can listen to all the action throughout the season from the ease of a telephone,” said MRN President and Executive Producer David Hyatt. “Fans may not always have access to a radio but with the AudioNow service, they’re never far from hearing the legendary calls of the Motor Racing Network. This truly makes our coverage universal.”

AudioNow is the leading provider of mobile phone broadcast radio distribution in the country. The platform uses proprietary “HD” voice design and patent-pending technology that allows any fixed or mobile phone to access live audio programming without downloads.

“NASCAR fans can now turn their phone into a radio and change the way they interface with one of America’s most popular sports,” said George Cernat, chief marketing officer for AudioNow. “They can literally be in two places at once. We’re thrilled to partner with MRN since it means fans can hear the track, feel the excitement and basically be there without actually being near a radio.”

“Virtually everyone has access to a telephone,” said Chip Wile, director of business development for MRN. “This agreement ensures that everyone can access MRN’s award-winning broadcasts anywhere.”

Let the green flag drop on 2013!
