AudioNow Goes Interactive, Offering “Flash Polls” for Broadcasters To Engage Audiences

AudioNow Breaks Ground with New Audience Research Feature

Washington, D.C., July 18, 2013: AudioNow, the leading radio-by-phone platform in the United States, connects hundreds of thousands of listeners each day to their favorite broadcast content by mobile phone. Now, in keeping with its spirit of innovation, the company announced a new audience research tool that allows broadcasters to gauge the opinions of their listeners at no cost.

The “Flash Poll” feature was beta-tested on three leading sports, Haitian, and Spanish-language broadcasters this month with enormous response rates. It is currently being used by a cable news network and an international global news broadcaster.

At a time when traditional audience research is often prohibitive by cost, the Flash Poll allows broadcasters to pose any question to their listeners, and receive real-time responses. Listeners respond on their keypad to questions that create content –on news events; social issues; cultural trends — or offer a window into demographics.

“Broadcasters, of course, want to know what their audiences are thinking,” said Alexandra Moe, Director of Strategic Partnerships at AudioNow. “Most stations don’t have thousands of dollars to invest in formal research. Here’s a way to ask a question and get an answer instantly, to get closer to your audience, or simply to understand who exactly they are.”

One-question polls can be uploaded directly by the broadcaster with the poll completed within 24-48 hours.

In a recent Flash Poll with one of the leading sports broadcasters in the U.S., for example, 60% of listeners reported using the AudioNow platform because they are away from a traditional radio or internet. A poll with Haitian broadcasters revealed that 70% of listeners own a “smartphone.”

The entire process can be done within the broadcaster’s AudioNow account. Click here to view the full flash poll results of one of the nation’s top sports broadcasters.
